DESIGN: Submerged Turntable by Evan Holm

Artist Evan Holm is convinced that ‘there will be a time when all tracings of human culture will dissolve back into the soil under the slow crush of the unfolding universe’.

To demonstrate these rather dark thoughts, he created a submerged record player that’s still producing a nearly perfect audio as demonstrated in the short video below.

Lee Price creates realistic oil paintings, that show women and food in their intimate and private settings. The pictures are self-portraits of her, getting excessive with food that is considered indulgent, forbidden, or comforting. Her works addresses the intersections of food with body image, addiction, and unabating desire.

I love the observer’s point of view and the colors… not to mention my affinity for hanging out in the bath and indulging in sweets.

Richard Feynman’s Little-Known Sketches & Drawings

It is no coincidence that our finest scientific minds are often the broadest in their interest.

Be the Feynman you wish to see in the world. Wait, that’s not how that goes …

What I mean, of course, is to broaden your horizons, to find the point where figures stop being numbers and symbols and instead become bodies and shapes, where physics morphs into how colors mix on a canvas or how sound waves become music, and where chemistry becomes the effect of kneading on flour, or smoke on meat, or how heat transforms sugar.

Explore beyond science, regularly. What you bring back will enrich your scientific experience, and science will enrich the rest of your mind’s endeavors.

Feynman taught the world a lot about the beauty of physics. But one of his greatest lessons is that the mind is like a diamond. It can only become its most valuable and beautiful form when it is cut with a kaleidoscope of different facets.

He was also very good at drawing.

Sunset Bib Necklace available here on my etsy.

I made this necklace with magazine clippings that I encased in resin and hung it on a brass chain. The end of the extender chain is embellished with a homemade bead I created from plastic from a recycled plastic milk bottle that I cut painted and encased in resin.

Photographing The Peculiar Borders We Make In The Name Of Property And Privacy

In her photo series Property Line, Sacramento photographer Roberta Neidigh documents the divisions between the suburban yards: places where carefully manicured lawns meet crumbling driveways, and fences meet fences in unexpected ways.
